In a remote village in Angola, a group of farmer women pose for a farewell picture. They look sad but the serious faces are only due to the solemnity of the moment. The photographer doesn't speak their language. She asks the translator for the magic words to make them smile before pressing the camera shutter release. « Pwanga ni Puy ? » Light or obscurity ? And the women faces lit up with a broad smile : « Pwanga ! »

Phowo, chantée en tchokwe, nous ramène à ces femmes qui passent leur journée aux champs, là-bas près de Huambo, au cœur de l’Angola. Une des amies de Lúcia a travaillé avec elles, les invitant a écrire des poèmes d’auto-éloge, pour regagner l’estime d’elles-mêmes. « Dieu m’a fait forte dans l’effort et dans la douceur. Il y en a qui nous méprisent ou qui nous voient comme faibles, mais en moi existe une force qui porte l’humanité ». Magnifiés par la voix de Lúcia, ces poèmes clament la puissance lumineuse de ces femmes.
